Conrad Gargett designs northern Gold Coast’s first private hospital

A development application has been lodged with Gold Coast City Council for a proposed 400-bed private hospital and health precinct in Coomera in what would be the region’s first comprehensive private hospital.

Conrad Gargett has been engaged for the project, as a leading architect in the design and delivery of health facilities.

The northern Gold Coast region currently has no hospital or day surgery facilities to cater for its growing population of more than 160,000.

The proposal for the $700 million project outlines an 11-storey building that includes four podium storeys and seven levels above podium that will co-locate patient admittance, medical imaging, operating theatres, intensive care units and overnight beds.

Developers Keylin and Kinstone are joint venture partners for the project. Keylin managing director Louis Cheung said, “We have engaged with Australia’s leading architects and hospital advisory firms to design a masterplan that delivers the region’s first comprehensive private hospital, with future stages to include campus-style allied health care, outpatient facilities, imaging, rehabilitation, and wellness services.”

The Foxwell Road hospital precinct falls under a $1.5 billion development masterplan for the northern end of the Gold Coast.

“We are also advancing concepts to support the inclusion of a swim school, childcare facilities, and family-focused recreation services with a strong focus on lifestyle and wellbeing,” Cheung said.

The site is located between Dreamworld theme park and Westfield Coomera shopping centre on Foxwell Road. The proposed private hospital will complement the Queensland government’s proposed public hospital, to be located around the corner on George Alexander Way.
