Concept designs revealed for adaptive transformation of three office buildings in Perth

Henning Larsen has revealed plans to introduce new “public spaces, landscape and amenity” to the centre of Perth with the redevelopment and adaption of three existing office buildings.

The “Mill Green district” project builds on from existing structures and materials in line with “strategic interventions designed to improve connections across the site, [and] strengthen the identity of the precinct,” a media communique reads.

The development will connect 197 St Georges terrace, 5 Mill street and 1 Mill street through “landscape, hospitality, wellness and shared spaces.” The proposal of a network of paths, laneways and a renewed central landscape intends to promote movement through the precinct.

According to Henning Larsen, the project delivery will be organised incrementally starting with the ground level situated at 197 St Georges terrace and 5 Mill street. Following this, further renovations such as the mixed-use tower redevelopment of 1 Mill Street will be addressed.

Design director of Henning Larsen Thomas Hobbs said, “Working closely with GDI [Property Group] and our multidisciplinary team, we have combined ambitious retention with new bio-based materials, landscape, canopy and public space to reconnect the precinct to its surroundings and create a more generous and distinctive destination in the heart of Perth’s CBD.”
