Dulux has unveiled its Colour Forecast for 2027, presenting three palettes that reflect a desire for joy, individuality and everyday rituals in the home.
Established in 1999, the annual Dulux Colour Forecast – curated by the Dulux Colour Team, led by colour and design manager Lauren Treloar and Dulux colour marketing lead Lilybet Holt – draws on year-round research into global and local trends shaping Australian interior design.
The 2027 forecast features three distinct palettes – Play, Treasure and Sensory – spanning calming blues, botanical tones and sophisticated jewel-like shades. Dulux notes that together, these shades speak to a shared desire for “authenticity, meaningful connections and the celebration of life’s spontaneous moments” amid a time marked by “rising living costs and the rapid acceleration of artificial intelligence.”
Holt said, “As we become increasingly technologically sophisticated, many of us are also feeling more socially disconnected. In a world shaped by algorithms, endless content and digital noise, there is a growing sense of sameness and overstimulation. The palettes reflect an urgent desire to create spaces that feel more personal, expressive and deeply human.”
Play brings vibrant energy and joy into interiors. Packed with soft pastels, this colourful collection features muted lilacs such as Dulux Stately Frills, calming blues like Dulux Powder Blue Half, spearmint greens including Dulux Catnap, and zesty orange and berry accents like Dulux Temptress and Dulux Baca Berry.
“With playful patterns, rubber elements and imperfect embellishments, Dulux Play creates wonderfully joyful landscapes where spontaneity and diversity reign, echoing our collective journey towards embracing life’s beautiful imperfections,” said Treloar.
Treasure is an opulent palette that embraces restrained maximalism, favouring rich tonal layering and classical influences over stark minimalism. This collection includes deep blues like Dulux Precision and Dulux Madonna, lush crimsons such as Dulux Raspberry Fool, and berry shades like Dulux Rich Red Violet. “Imagined with expressive marbles and high-gloss finishes, this palette celebrates the beauty of collected histories, featuring mixed metals and rich wood textures that tell countless stories,” said Holt.
A tribute to mindful living, Sensory embodies the calming qualities of considered design through soft warm neutrals and tactile surfaces. Drawing on Japanese influences and conscious craftsmanship, this palette encompasses natural tones with layered greens such as Dulux Field Maple and Dulux Moorland, warm neutrals like Dulux Buttercookie and Dulux Humble Fawn, and near-black browns including Dulux Dark Cocoa and Dulux Sweet Chocolate. “Softened through tactile textures, organic curves, aged brass accents and weathered surfaces, Dulux Sensory creates spaces that are rich in craftsmanship, inviting moments of connection through considered detail,” said Treloar.
