Entries are now open for the twenty-third edition of the Gold Coast Urban Design Awards.
The program recognises projects that exemplify design excellence, liveability and sustainability across seven categories: Excellence in Urban Design Award; Award for Urban Design Leadership; Urban Design Award for Public Projects; Urban Design Award for Private Projects; Urban Design Award for Sustainability and Resilience Projects; Commendation; and Award for the Advancement of Urban Design – Unbuilt Projects.
Previous winners of the prestigious Excellence in Urban Design Award include The Spit Redevelopment submitted by Place Design Group, awarded in 2023; Kurrawa Terrace Event Space submitted by 8la Architects, awarded in 2020; and Parklands project submitted by AAA – a joint venture between architects Arkhefield, ARM and Archipelago, awarded in 2017.
The jury comprises David Wagner, national president of the Australian Institute of Architects and founding partner of Atelier Wagner Architects; Glen Power, landscape architect; Nicole Bennetts, national head of policy and advocacy at the Planning Institute of Australia; and Tanya Martin, director of GTM Advisory.
