A proposal for a 34-storey residential tower in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, designed by Koichi Takada Architects and featuring layered facade planting, has been lodged with Brisbane City Council.
If approved, the tower would replace an existing two-storey commercial office building at 57 Berwick Street. The building adopts a podium-and-tower configuration, with the podium set to the street boundary and upper levels progressively set back to reduce bulk.
The scheme includes 189 apartments, commercial office space at level six and two levels of rooftop amenities, with facilities including a yoga studio, workspace and library, cinema, games lounge, outdoor dining areas, gym, saunas, a pool and a meditation space. The podium accommodates four levels of car parking.
Plans state the design draws on Queensland’s subtropical landscape. A landscape concept report prepared by Lat Studios outlines an “integrated green infrastructure” planting strategy, with greenery extending across the facade from ground level to level six. Deep planters at roof level are also incorporated to support larger plant species.
