The Northern Territory government is inviting input to inform the direction of its new housing strategy, which will guide how housing is planned and delivered across the territory.
According to the NT government, the strategy intends to strengthen the housing system to support economic growth, workforce participation, and safe and connected communities.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Community Development Steve Edgington said the feedback would help identify what is working well, where the main opportunities are, and where future effort should be focused.
It will focus on key areas such as housing supply across private, social, affordable and remote housing; the construction and development system; regional and remote housing needs and aspirations; affordability and access, and social housing and asset performance.
“We want Territorians to help shape a housing strategy that reflects local experience, regional priorities and the real challenges people face across the territory,” said Edgington.
“We need housing that keeps up, backs workers and families, and delivers real results in our suburbs, regions and remote communities.
“Housing is key to tackling the root causes of crime and lifting outcomes in health, education and jobs – so our strategy must reflect what territorians want.”
Communities, industry, service providers and other stakeholders can share their views via a have your say survey until 24 April.
