As part of the Australian Institute of Architects’ South Australian Architecture Awards, voting is now open for the City of Adelaide Prize People’s Choice Award.
The award recognises the best new project in Adelaide’s public realm, as determined by South Australians from a shortlist of entries.
The Institute’s SA chapter president, Kirstie Coultas, said the award highlights the important role architecture plays in shaping the city.
“This year’s projects demonstrate the diverse ways public design can improve the lives of South Australians. Inclusivity, community and connection to Country are central to each project and highlight the transformative power of good design,” she said.
“Now in its fifteenth year, the prize continues to build public awareness of good design across Adelaide and celebrates recent projects that make an outstanding contribution to the city.”
The 2026 shortlist includes:
- Adelaide Aquatic Centre (Kauwingka) – JPE Design Studio with Warren and Mahoney, and Karl Winda Telfer
- Adelaide Town Hall – Swanbury Penglase
- Eighty Eight O’Connell – Woods Bagot
- Opuntia and Olea: Stories of Adaptation – Giuseppe Matteo Pappalardo
- Reno’s – RADS
- YWCA – Tridente Boyce
Voting is open on the Australian Institute of Architects’ website until 5 June.
The winner, along with the other 2026 South Australian Architecture Awards recipients, will be announced on 20 June.
