Ninety-three buildings, including 16 private homes, will open to the public across the weekend of 18–19 July for the Brisbane Open House 2026 event. This year’s program welcomes the public into Balmoral Hillside House by Kieron Gait Architects, Harriet House by Bligh Graham Architects, Same Same but Different House by Maytree Studios and modernist favourite Eisenmenger House by Barry Walduck. Other highlights include tours of 205 North Quay by Hassell, REX and Richards and Spence, 443 Queen Street, Brisbane by WOHA, and the Glasshouse Theatre at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre by Blight Rayner Architecture in partnership with Snøhetta.
Returning from 24 July to 26 July, the Melbourne edition of Open House presents more than 180 tours, talks and unique experiences across the city. This year’s program includes access to 10 private homes, among them Two Sisters by Breathe Architecture; Stables House by Rob Kennon Architects; Materia: A St Kilda Passivhaus by Obsessive Architecture; Light Well House by Ian James Smith, with interiors by Simone Haag; and Lola’s House by Maggie Edmond in association with Claire Sisson. Also opening across the weekend are Nightingale Umarkoo Wayi by Kennedy Nolan and Amanda Oliver Gardens; Swift Walk by Kerstin Thompson Architects, Hayball, Lian Architects, SBLA Studio and DKO; and Piccolo House Gore Street by Woods Bagot, Hecker Guthrie and Acre.
In a world of constant change, interiors that can flex and endure are more valuable than ever. This talk, featuring Sally Campbell of BVN, Adele Winteridge of Foolscap and Ben Edwards of Studio Edwards, will explore how designing for change, comfort and reuse can extend the lifespan of interiors, reduce waste and create spaces that remain relevant as needs evolve. The event will be held on 1 July.
