Doa Oa Paints Wild Cherry Blossom for Muro Crítico 2026 in El Torno

Doa Oa has painted a wild cherry blossom in El Torno, Spain, for Muro Crítico. The mural, at 14 Calle Maestro Adolfo Izquierdo, draws on the cherry trees that define the landscape of the Valle del Jerte. According to Muro Crítico, the artist chose the wild cherry flower to acknowledge the tree’s importance to the valley and its identity.

The work belongs to Doa Oa’s ongoing Reforestando project. In her account of the project, the artist describes using site-specific botanical murals to draw attention to plant life and encourage a closer relationship with the natural environment. In El Torno, that approach finds a subject closely connected to the place where the painting stands. (doaoa.org)

The mural was commissioned through the Diputación Provincial de Cáceres for Muro Crítico’s 2026 programme in El Torno, scheduled from August 31 to September 4. The project was made in collaboration with the town council and curated by Sojo. (licitaciones.dip-caceres.es)
