    Latest Installation by Gola Hundun in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg

    Italian artist Gola Hundun shares his latest installation in Luxembourg wherein he did his residency at Kufa in Esch last month. He calls his piece: “Economic power must redefine its parasitic position about the world. We need to become a choral system of small self-sufficient centers that collaborate as the roots of a tree contribute to shape a trunk. Respect for other forms of life! Superior Love or extinction now!”It was the first time the artist faced a complex project. Gola Hundun worked with a lot of materials such as  iron, wood ,wicker, living plants soil. He produced a coral piece, a group of sculptures installed in the train station of Esch sur Alzette.“Roots as the beginning of a new world are the ones that my new work in Esch shows up.Roots for an interconnected existence just like railways are.Roots of a tree-scheme society where every living being collaborates with each other.Roots with an inner power capable of subverting the capitalistic system.Roots to begin a new lifestyle.Earth will always keep on existing – even after us. Without Earth in its current shape, we won’t exist.Roots connected to the Earth.”“…inside each root there is a plant pot in which Ivy plants will grow on the wicker structure and through time they will symbolize the flag of our ideal!This installation group is part of my research path Habitat , a project that start with the abandoned buildings recolonised by rest of nature, and now approach the living cities, with nature taking back some of their space.”Gola Hundun’s work shows the relationship between human beings and the biosphere. This consideration combined with the conscious decision to live as a vegetarian since the age of 16 positions the artist and his work closer to the animal sphere to the human sphere.He explores themes such as interspecies communication, shamanism, a return to the earth, vegetarianism, and spirituality.Gola Hundun’s work is often representative of the relationship between humans and nature. He has always felt very close to the natural world and describes his ideology as being closer to the animal sphere rather than the human one. His decision to become a vegetarian at the age of 16 speaks to conscientiousness of the animal world. He explores themes such as collaboration vs. domination, shamanism, vegetarianism, energies and mysticism.While best known for his paintings, Gola also incorporates sculpture, fibre, plant life, electronics and performance art into his public installations and paintings. His work has an intensely naturalistic feel to them, with many cues to the plant world including organic curves and bright colors.Take a look below for more photos of the installation.       “CONVECTIVE MOTIONS” by Gola Hundun in Milan, Italy

      Italian artist Gola Hundun just recently finished his latest mural in Milan, Italy during  the INNESCHI Festival. The project is dedicated to the universal cyclic movement. The composition starts from a central element, identified as cosmic energy, a solar force that unravels centrifugally.Leaves are painted as if they were part of a fire explosion, following and growing the movement which consequently generates new ones, involving other celestial bodies, represented on the contiguous facades, symbolically returning towards the central sun in a perpetual cyclical movement. The three stars represent the three circles of the Celtic Triskele.The motion represented overcomes its two-dimensionality and becomes real, physical and tangible through the call of the avifauna, invited to take part in the universal movement through the installation of clay nests I realized with the citizens of Vimodrone according to the needs of the species of birds of the area indicated by LIPU Milano.The whole composition includes some endemic plants (useful for insects) and some grass, bushes, hornbeams, dogwoods, hazels, hawthorns and an English oak placed in axis with the tree painted on the wall. The tree of life represented is the same you can find into monotheistic or rather pagan religions. The two trees will be set in two movement: the painted one will be crystallized where as the real tree will grow up inexorably.The mural will be gradually hidden by the vegetation growing that will be set as a curtain – representing the time. The artwork can be put itself into the eternal cycle of life, hence it can not be defined as done, due to its vulnerability to the universal movement of existence.Gola Hundun’s work shows the relationship between human beings and the biosphere.       “Reckless Actions Effects” by Gola Hundun in Bellaria-Igea Marina, Italy

      “Reckless actions effects” opens up to a new project by Gola Hundun located in Bellaria-Igea Marina (Italy). The mural is just completed and it is part of multiple actions which will take place in the next months thanks to the City Hall and VerdeBlu Foundation.

      The project is conceived to be a series of thoughts about human beings actions and Mass Tourism policies of the last decades. The topic is both local – because of the negative impacts on local natural heritage – and global – since many areas on the Planet share the same destiny.

      A luxuriant Barrier Reef is depicted in the mural, full of many diverse flora and fauna species. Barrier Reef, considered to be the most diverse and complex forms of life, run the risk of losing their amazing colors because of the coral bleaching phenomenon.
      Like what happens in Natural environment, in Gola’s Façade the scenario becomes less and less visible towards the absolute white corner of the wall. The mentioned white means the absence, the emptiness, the lost caused by men into the ecosystem. Also the place where the artwork takes place has a double meaning: it is based where it used to be a coastal pine forest, later destroyed to build the Tourism Office of the town, according to the instant profit policy of that time.

      The artwork invites us to think about the lack of empathy towards the rest of the species and to the action/reaction process. The mural is a way to underline the link among the world itself, the forces within and the beings that inhabit it. In this case: deforestation, global warming, climate change, ice melting, ocean acidification, ocean bleaching.

      The awareness and understanding of human choices are the cornerstones of Gola’s work which aims to be a spotlight on human actions tailored on a short term vision. Human beings believe to be still on the top of the pyramid and to have the right to rule the world. The results of these thoughts – dated back to Platonic vision and monotheistic theories –  have brought to the present environmental crack and climate crisis which we are currently facing.
