    ” Jon’s Pizza Shop” NFT Project by Jon Burgerman

    NYC-based and UK-born veteran contemporary artist, Jon Burgerman, is teaming up with the Taiko NFT team to create the very first NFT collection that enables collectors to combine their pizza slices into whole pies in exchange for physical artworks and more. Jon’s Pizza Shop will feature over 120 uniquely hand-drawn attributes by Jon Burgerman that have been digitally generated into 6,666 pizza slices. Pizza Pie collectors will also get an opportunity to be awarded physical pizza artworks created specifically for this NFT series. There will be a total of 23 physical artworks and each piece will feature one of the attributes from the collection. The NFTs will be minted on the Solana blockchain, as the team see the low cost and high speed of transaction as appealing to fans who want to collect and combine their pizza slices for a special round pizza pie NFT.“Pizza is something that has been represented in a lot of my work over the years.       Praise Shadows Art Gallery will be opening the first solo exhibition in Boston by the New York-based artist Jon Burgerman this coming July 8 to August 8, 2021. Along with this, the artist will be on site creating a mural for the gallery, on which they’ll install new canvases, works on paper, and more.Eye Candy embodies the world of Burgerman’s characters through works in various media from drawing, painting, to three-dimensional collectible items and books.Burgerman’s creations manifest themselves in amusement, often an effort to make him laugh or distract his thoughts from outside pressures. This became particularly heightened during the lockdown in 2020.“Art is my route of escape, not only from the world around me but the anxieties inside of me,” says the artist. “I wanted to create a joyful, colourful space for people to visit, that shares how I managed to cope with the lockdown by focusing my attention on play and creativity.       The word “Bodega” means “grocery” in Spanish, which we call “士多” (Store) in Hong Kong. The character of a grocery store is one-stop, all-inclusive, and most importantly, friendly. Galleries and art have always been a little distant from the public, they are often labelled as high class and unaffordable, it seems that everyone in the field is often comparing each other’s taste and wealth in an unhealthy manner.b-sm = none; sm > 728×90;b-sm = 300×250; sm > none;This fallacy is probably deeply ingrained in many people’s hearts in Hong Kong. In view of this, Matt Chung, the founder of Art Streaming and Off The Record, curated “Art Bodega” during the difficult times that the world is still facing, and broughttogether five artists to the K11 Art Mall.Artists from different countries include Jon Burgerman from the UK, Maria Imaginario from Portugal, Timothy Gatenby from the UK, Gunwoo Park from South Korea, and 2timesperday from Hong Kong, brought forces to create this art pop-up exhibition with food as a main theme.The exhibition consists of PIZZZA vinly figure and his original paintings specially made by Jon Burgerman and Off The Record, iconic pastelle colored lollipop sculptures handmade by Maria Imaginario, Timothy Gatenby’s reinterpretation of famous Anime characters with fast food items, Gunwoo Park, which is an expert at recreating objects with masking tape and LED lights, produced a few Hong Kong people’s childhood delicacies for his first Hong Kong exhibition, and lastly, 2timesperday from Hong Kong used his popular Illustration technique on Instagram to produce five prints related to food, hoping to let viewers reflect on humanity. During the epidemic, it is difficult for everyone to leave their house or even have a proper meal at a restaurant with friends.
