Kaolin Tiles and Taubmans have launched a collaborative collection, featuring eight large-format porcelain tiles in four different colour schemes.
The Equilibrium collection references Taubmans paint with a unique, paint-like finish that mimics textured brushstrokes. Four colour palettes have been released as part of the collection –Euphoric, Grounded, Composure and Centred – each of which were inspired by Taubmans’ 2024 Colour Forecast.
During the development of the collection, the Kaolin team faced difficulties trying to match and convey the paint tones on the tile surfaces, however, following various tests and experiments, the team managed to achieve the aesthetic and feel that they were after – a brush stroke look with a matte texture.
The painted-looking tiles can be applied in interior commercial and residential settings. They can be integrated on to conventional surfaces such as walls, or surfaces that are not traditionally painted, such as floors, wet areas, customized walls and integrated vanities.
The collaboration can be traced back to an unexpected conversation between Jason Mifsud of Kaolin Tiles and Fiona Dawson of Taubmans, whereupon both individuals realized the complementary strengths and visions of both brands. Born out of a mutual desire to develop innovative products, the brands began looking at collaborative opportunities. The partnership marks a significant milestone as it is the first time that Taubmans has collaborated with any other manufacturer.
The range was launched at the Kaolin Sydney showroom in November 2023. To find out more about the tile collection visit the Kaolin website.
