Designs released for central Dandenong transformation

A draft masterplan for the next phase of the Victorian government’s Revitalizing Central Dandenong project has been released.

The draft masterplan calls for a new central hub, at least 470 new dwellings, a hotel and conference centre, offices and community spaces. DKO Architecture is the architect behind the designs, which also include plans for the first stage of the project – a new Little India precinct, in deference to the site’s cultural identity.

An urban brewery entertainment district will be built in the new Dandenong central precinct.

“We’re turning this area into a vibrant new neighbourhood with more jobs, housing, entertainment, restaurants and spaces that will be enjoyed by locals well into the future,” said Member for Dandenong Gabrielle Williams.

The draft masterplan also includes an urban brewery entertainment district, as well as an education facility, retail, a medical facility, a cinema and dining venues.

Construction on the first stage of the development is expected to commence in 2023. The initiative is supported through a $290 million investment from the Victorian Government and, it is expected, through more than $1 billion in private sector investment.

In late 2020, Capital Alliance won exclusive development rights for the Revitalizing Dandenong project. It is seeking community feedback on draft masterplan.
