Globe-trotting urban artist, Fin DAC has spent the last 6 months on the road indulging in a ‘spraycation’ of sorts. As such he hasn’t really been keeping us up to date with his goings-on but, we’ve just heard from him on his return from down under in Australia and New Zealand.
The Irish artists’ sponsorship and joint-curation of the Street Prints NZ festivals has made travel to this part of the world an annual affair and he admits to looking forward to incorporating the indigenous Maori culture into his work on a regular basis.
This year the festivals took place in Mount Maunganui and Palmerston North in the north island and included street art luminaries such as Millo, Insane51 and Askew.
For both his murals, Fin DAC stuck to the festival themes and just paint brushes. He took his lead from the buildings in question, kept his palette deliberately minimal and colour range tight so that the murals would fade in to their surroundings.
To finish off the tour and, in spite of cutting short the Australian leg of the trip due to the catastrophic bushfires, he still managed to fit in a colourful spray-painted ‘Hidden Beauty’ in Brighton, Melbourne to add to his collection.
He’s now heading back home to make plans for 2020 and beyond… which he’s promised he’ll keep us posted on.
