Registrations are now open for the 2024 NGV Architecture Commission Design Competition, the ninth edition of the annual competition.
Architects or multi-disciplinary teams are invited to register for the two-stage design competition, which offers architects the opportunity to create an installation in the NGV garden through captivating and stimulating design. Teams can include both Australian and international members, as long as at least one team member is a registered Australian architect.
Competitors have been invited to submit proposals that push the boundaries of architecture in a conceptual, material, experiential or formal sense. Thought-provoking, issues-led, relevant and resonant proposals that can spark conversation, dialogue, immersion or reflection will be well received by the jury.
The 2024 NGV Architecture Commission Design Competition will be judged by associate studio director of Aspect Studios Cassandra Chilton, senior curator of contemporary art, design and architecture at NGV Ewan McEoin, associate editor at Architecture Media Georgia Birks, director of Wowowa Monique Woodward and director of Chrofi Tai Ropiha. The jury will assess design concepts and team capability during stage one.
