A new 1000m² mural only visible from the skies was created by TAVU & LOUVES at See U, the the largest temporary occupation in Belgium.
When everyone is talking about change and transition at the social, economic, political and ecological levels, the next step, the next decisions and the next years will be decisive. This is why the TAVU & LOUVES artist collectives have chosen to represent the challenges of this period through a new collaboration. The mural encourages us to reflect on this before and after and to gain height during this critical period. On lifestyles, the main thing, the emergence of new habits.
WATCH YOUR STEP has several reading levels, depending on the take. We can see lettering inside the mural recalling slogans of some demonstrations of the past year, showing that the urgency of these changes goes beyond the framework of the health crisis that we know: “More G-spot, less than 5 G;No culture, no future; We will not return to normal because normal was the problem; Warmer than the climate; More ice, less bankers; Let’s go kayak; Amazon denies; Beyond borders;Build bridges, not walls”.
The creation was entirely free, self-produced, and is part of a long collaboration between the two collectives, TAVU & LOUVES, who regularly partner to carry out artistic interventions within the city.
Louves is a Brussels artistic collective, created by Cathy Gagalis Vega and Clarisse Jeghers. The artists met at La Cambre School and combined their skills in 2017. Atelier Louves spread its identity on all media: textiles, walls, windows, objects, screen prints, packaging … Their universe is graphic and each creation is inspired by a place, a meeting or a collaboration. While TAVU is a visual communication agency and a collective of artists which works for 6 years to promote local creativty, artistic occupation of public space and Brussels collaborations on a human scale.
