'Decadent' commercial interiors among Dulux awards finalists

The colours and tones prevalent among the finalists of the 35th anuual Dulux Colour Awards indicated “the need for a return to nature and its grounding effect in chaotic times,” said said Andrea Orr, Dulux colour and communications manager.

Among the 105 finalists, 44 come from the two commercial interiors categories – Workplace and Retail, and Public and Hospitality.

“We are certainly seeing more of the warmer whites this year in Commercial Interiors,” Orr continued. There were many examples of spaces using darker features to create separate areas within a larger space or to highlight signage and branding. Earth based colours were very much on display including rich and decadent deep brown/reds, deep greens, and blues.”

“We have seen more accents of orange/rust in commercial interiors this year which we haven’t seen for a while. There were so many textures on walls again, especially the concrete effect. Natural finishes and timber were also seen together in many projects.”
