Godfrey Hirst Commercial goes carbon neutral

Flooring company Godfrey Hirst Commercial has achieved Climate Active Carbon Neutral certification via two key projects that have offset over 17,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

The Carbon Conscious Carbon Capture Project is a reforestation mission across 5,700 hectares in Western Australia. The project has seen more than 6 million native Mallee trees planted in one year, and is committed to maintaining the forest for a minimum of 100 years.

The second initiative is the Hubei Duhe Pankou Hydropower Plant in China that sees water used to sustainably deliver over one million MWh of electricity to the power grid, including many of Godfrey Hirst Commercial’s timber and flooring suppliers in the region.

According to the company, taking real climate action means voluntarily going above and beyond current regulations to reduce environmental impact. This is in line with the Paris Agreement and beyond, across all new product developments.

Climate Active is a partnership between the Australian Government and Australian businesses that aims to drive voluntary climate action.
