Shannon Battisson elected next Institute national president

The Australian Institute of Architects has announced Shannon Battisson has been elected the next national president, as incoming national president Tony Giannone begins his term.

Battison is a Canberra-based architect and director of The Mill: Architecture and Design. She was awarded the ACT chapter’s Emerging Architect Prize in 2018.

She was elected president of the ACT chapter in 2020, after serving as chair of its sustainability committee.

“We are thrilled to welcome Shannon as the new President Elect,” said Institute CEO Julia Cambage. “Shannon has been an active member of the Institute for many years and has shown extraordinary leadership, especially in the sustainability and advocacy spaces. I look forward to working alongside her as National President Elect and National President.”

Battisson will begin her term as national president in 2022.
