North Sydney’s tallest office tower approved

Planning approval has been secured for the 51-storey Affinity Place project, which, when built, will become the tallest office tower in North Sydney.

The Hassell-designed tower is expected to take several years to complete, and once finished, it will accommodate around 60,000 square metres of commercial office and retail space and could house up to 6,000 office employees.

Proposed in 2021, the building was designed as a future-oriented workplace, with a slender form, porous ground plane and crowning rooftop garden. At the time of proposal, developer Stockland said the project was a response to forseen strong demand for quality workplaces in a post-COVID landscape.

Affinity Place is part of a larger wave in investment in North Sydney infrastructure following the introduction of Victoria Cross Station on Miller Street. Scheduled to open in 2024, the new station will offer regular, rapid services to Barangaroo and Martin Place, making North Sydney one of the most accessible districts in the city.
