Plans finalized for Western Sydney Aerotropolis

The New South Wales Government has released the final precinct plan for the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

The initial plan for the precinct lays the foundation for the transformation of 6,500 hectares of land, which will feature new homes, open space and public infrastructure, around the proposed Western Sydney International Airport in Badgerys Creek.

Minister for Planning Anthony Roberts said the finalization of the plans has provided clarity for the future of the development.

“The final Precinct Plan will enable the development process to begin in the Aerotropolis, and kick start the benefits and opportunities that a new international airport will bring to Western Sydney,” Minister Roberts said.

Benefiting from its proximity to the new airport, the Aerotropolis will be the state’s “newest, thriving commercial city,” Minister Roberts said.

The Aerotropolis will make up the heart of the Western Parkland City, connecting to Greater Parramatta and the Harbour CBD.

Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said investment in the airport, roads and new metro will make the Aerotropolis one of the most well-connected areas in the country.

Minister Ayres also said that, following community feedback, the new precinct plans feature greater connection to open spaces.

“The revised Open Space Network will ensure more than 95 percent of homes in the future Aerotropolis are located within 400 metres, or five minutes walk of open space,” he said.
