The Australian Institute of Architects’ Queensland chapter has declared the 2023 Philip Y. Bisset Planning (Architecture) Scholarship open for submissions, with the successful candidate to be awarded $15,000 towards overseas study.
The scholarship enables final year Master of Architecture students in Queensland to undertake a course of study or research on architecture overseas, with a research focus on planning and design.
Queensland chapter president Amy Degenhart said this is an exciting opportunity for students who had their ability to explore architecture in a global context impacted by the pandemic.
“In ten years, these students will be the architects that deliver the final touch on the Olympic buildings and carry us across into the legacy of the 2032 Olympics. This scholarship allows them the opportunity to bring home much needed global inspiration that will set them up to succeed in this task,” Degenhart said.
The scholarship was established as a result of a generous bequest left to the Australian Institute of Architects by the late Philip Bisset. Bisset’s contribution to architecture shaped the urban landscape and this scholarship aims to nurture the next generation of talent.
Nominees can apply by visiting the scholarship portal on the Institute’s website.
