Australian projects recognized in International Architecture Awards

The Chicago Athenaeum and European Centre for Architecture have announced the winners of its 2023 International Architecture Awards.

Four Australian projects are among the almost 100 projects from around the world recognized across 25 categories.

FJC Studio (formerly FJMT Studio) received two awards: Nunawading Community Hub was one of four projects recognized in the Community Centres category, while The Foundry was among five winners in the Corporate Buildings category.

The 2021 edition of the MPavilion, The Lightcatcher designed by Map Studio received an award in the Display/Installations along with two other projects from China and Ethiopia.

Neeson Murcutt and Neille’s Rosewood Centre for Barker College also received an award in the Schools/Universities category.

Additionally, Casa Mia by Iredale Pedersen Hook Architects and Caroline Di Costa Architect received an honourable mention.

The International Architecture Awards was established by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, together with The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and Metropolitan Arts Press in 2004 to honour the world’s most distinguished buildings, landscape architecture and urbanism. The 2023 awards recognized new projects completed between 2021 and 2023.
