The SA Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) is calling on students to submit applications for a grant of up to $15,000 as part of the Jack Hobbs McConnell Travelling Fellowship.
The successful applicant must use the fellowship grant to undertake an independent program of research or course of further study in architecture or a related design field.
The fellowship was formed following a bequest from the estate of the late Jack Hobbs McConnell, who passed away in April 2005. McConnell made significant contributions to the Australian architecture profession through practice, teaching and mentoring. He held the position of national president of the Institute between 1968 and 1969, and in 1970, he earned the prestigious Gold Medal.
Emerging designers who are five to seven years from graduation from the University of South Australia or University of Adelaide are eligible to apply. Entrants do not need to be currently residing in South Australia, but if shortlisted, may be required to be interviewed by teleconference. Applicant will be required to detail their interest in architectural design in South Australia and how they might ultimately engage in future practice in the state.
Entries close 15 March. Enter here.
