The South Australian and Tasmanian chapters of the Australian Institute of Architects have introduced new presidents.
To lead the South Australian chapter will be Kirstie Coultas, in replacement of former president Chris Morley. Coultas has practised as an architect for more than 15 years and has served as a SA Chapter councillor for seven years. Past president Morley, stated, “her participation on Council has seen the Institute continue to provide advocacy and strategic vision while supporting day-to-day practice, and we have great confidence in her ability to further the SA Chapter agenda.”
Coultas is an advocate of cross-pollination between sectors in the construction and design industry. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, a member of the National Women in Construction (NAWIC), and previous sat on the Property Council of Australia Diversity and Inclusion Committee Member.

The founding director of Preston Lane, Daniel Lane, has taken on the role of Tasmanian Chapter president, as well as the role of councillor on the Institute’s National Council. In a communique issued by the Tasmanian Chapter, it stated, “Daniel has served on Chapter Council for many years, along with representing the Chapter on the Board of Architects of Tasmania, so his knowledge and understanding of the industry is broad and highly-valued.”
In addition to Lane’s appointment, four new Tasmanian chapter councillors were appointed: Lucy Burke-Smith (Purcell), Andrew Williamson (IDW Architecture and Interiors); Hugh Maguire (Maguire and Devine Architects); Pippa Jensen (Pippa Architecture).
