Round one of the Alastair Swayn Foundation grants program has launched, offering funding opportunities to individuals and organizations in the architecture and design community.
The Alastair Swayn Foundation is a not-for-profit intended to advance Australian architecture and design culture. The late Alastair Swayn, one of Canberra’s leading architects, bequeathed his estate to establish the foundation.
To nurture the Australian architectural and design community, the foundation offers grants to individuals, groups and organizations that promote the advancement of architecture and design through research, education and exhibition. It is currently accepting proposals for Design Strategy Grants, valued at $10,000, and Design Thinking Grants, at $5,000.
Design Strategy Grants support targeted innovative research, addressing significant current issues, challenges and topical areas of focus for architecture and design, including workplace design, housing and sustainability. Proposals must align with at least one of the foundation objectives identified on the website. Click here to apply.
Design Thinking Grants are awarded to research projects across architecture, landscape architecture, industrial design, heritage preservation and restoration, adaptive re-use (architecture, product design), designing for accessibility, and other-design related activities. Proposals must align with one or more of the the foundation’s five guiding principles: excellence, innovation, collaboration, progress and leadership. Click here to apply.
