    “The Message” by Pablo S. Herrero and David de la Mano in Valencia, Spain

    Spanish artists Pablo S. Herrero and David de la Mano have collaborated on a new mural in Torrent, Valencia, Spain. The projects is a continuation of their previous mural “The Calm”.“A sailing species brings news from the distance to land and songs of encouragement. It brings omens and the wishes of those left behind. It carries seeds that will take care of the air. It only respond  to the ultimate power.”The pictorical language of Pablo S. Herrero is linked to the code of plant forms. Trees and forests, both murals and paper, are the vehicle for show relationship between the dynamic and the static, individual and community, sustainability and resistance. His activity as a muralist, usually at off-center and marginal spaces, take the suburbs as a paradigm of the rejection that the city causes to large parts of itself.On the other hand, David de la Mano is known for his large dystopian murals featuring human and animal silhouettes and minimalist style. He creates distinctive artworks which are symbolic reflections on humankind and reminiscent of dark fairytales.The single anthropomorphic figures of the artist gather together and unite in an eternal and recurring movement; the individuals become the mass and vice versa, and they are driven by their dreams, ambitions, fears, vices, hopes, and internal conflicts.Take a look below for more photos of the mural More

    “The Calm” by David de la Mano in Valencia, Spain

    Spanish street artist David de la Mano just finished working on his latest mural in Torrent, Valencia. His work entitled “The Calm” depicts a great whale with a silhouette of people riding on its back in David de la Mano’s signature monochromatic imagery. The mural was painted in collaboration with artist Pablo S. Herrero.“The great whale carries a human group on it. Its passengers don’t know where they are going. Some of them trust the wisdom of an ancient being who knows the territory, others travel with the suspicion that the whale doesn’t know what her path is either. Some of them believe that the environment in which they are in can be deciphered, perhaps by others. They intuit that there were those who interpreted it before. One part of the group only distinguishes a bitter feeling of loss. They all carry something important in their hands. Everyone keep calm.”David de la Mano is known for his large dystopian murals featuring human and animal silhouettes and minimalist style.     “COSMOS” by David de la Mano in Uruguay

    Spanish contemporary artist David de la Mano recenlty worked on a new mural project entitled “COSMOS”. This project was carried out on the three floors of the entrance hall of the Catholic University of Uruguay.University has the same etymological origin as universe and universal that express, among other things, the sense of unity.Universitas was used to designate any association or community directed towards a common goal. Loan (15th century) from the Latin universitas, universitatis “universality, totality”, “company of people, community”, derived from universum (V. universe). In Latin it had the sense of “collectivity”, “guild”.According to S. Giedion” symbolization was born from the need to give perceptible form to the imperceptible. Primitive man searched the stars for symbols on which to project his wishes and fears and feel in the darkness of night under his protective influence. Recent studies suggest more than reasonable connections between our representation of the celestial vault and historical iconography, as well as the idea that “the sky has been a black support on which man has painted his conception of the Universe (…)”.Throughout this long period of time, it is highlighted, “there was an important change in the human mentality and from a magical and religious conception of the firmament, a scientific concept was passed that was reflected in the celestial planispheres, which went from being populated with gods and mythological beings, to be full of figures and schematic lines until reaching the graphic language of computers ”. Paleolithic men were probably the first to trace the shapes of the constellations, inaugurating what would later be called Astronomy, which before being science was religion and magic. (Extracts from the thesis Evolution of the drawing of the constellations by Luz Antequera Congregated).“COSMOS”  immersive project was conceived by the rector of the Universidad Católica Julio Fernández Techera.     New Murals by David de la Mano in Paris, France

    Street artist David de la Mano have recently worked on two small murals located in the Batignolles area in district 17 of Paris. This project was conceived after his last exhibition “Intemperie” at the Galerie Itinerrance. He was invited by the Paris-based curator Olivier Landes, who also conceived the Rouen Impressionnée festival in 2020.As an alternative to the raise of big scale muralism, the project aims to bring on site-specific urban art pieces, based on the fusion with architecture and urban micro landscapes. In his unique black monochromatic style, David imagined two great pieces of his enigmatic characters, fitting with this XIX-century Parisian architecture and its cracks.David de la Mano is a Spanish contemporary artist best known for his stunning murals often depicting silhouettes.     “INTEMPERIE” by David de la Mano in Paris, France

    On the occasion of his second solo exhibition in Paris, David de la Mano has recently painted a mural on the facade of Galerie Itinerrance. The exhibition “Intemperie” is currently on view at Galerie Itinerrance until the 30th of June.Spanish painter and sculptor David de la Mano has adorned the world’s streets with monochromatic, outsized murals exploring the relationships that humans have with each other, as well as their wider environment. The artist experiments with different techniques among which acrylics, watercolours, ink and collage.His large-scale, black and white pieces provoke reactions among the viewers and encourage their emotions and ideas through a minimalist aesthetic.David observes others and their social or anti-social behaviour, exploring every corner of social behaviour in his practice, using silhouettes of men, women, or the masses as narrative metaphors.     “About William Lanson” by David de la Mano in New Haven, Connecticut

    Spanish contemporary artist David de la Mano recently finished a new mural located in Ninth Square at 33 Crown Street, New Haven, Connecticut entitled “About William Lanson”. It is a 330 meter square mural that took the artist 6 non-consecutive days (due to snow and rain) to paint.

    This project was born in 2018 and is an initiative of SITE PROJECTS (a private non-profit organization that commissions world-class works of art, programming and public events project by project in partnership with local agencies and organizations that enhance cultural heritage and diversity. New Haven).

    SITE PROJECTS believes that public art is an essential part of a healthy and democratic society. It enriches, inspires, and educates, enhancing our sense of place, purpose, and potential. SITE PROJECTS commissions site-specific world-class public art that brings 21st century avant-garde art to historic New Haven, CT. By speaking in the universal language of art, we stimulate community conversations and interactions that embrace diversity and bridge social and economic differences.

    The organization’s proposal for this mural project was to generate a metaphor for the figure of the black businessman and engineer William Lanson, an extraordinary figure in New Haven of the early 19th century who made possible the industrial success of the 19th century New Haven, CT.

    Almost certainly a runaway slave, Lanson beat incredible odds to become a highly successful businessman, one of Connecticut’s first black entrepreneurs.He was one of the first leaders among free blacks and was praised by the white establishment for his commercial achievements.

    It was Lanson who discovered a way to extend the city’s dock to New Haven Harbor, facilitating the growth of the city as a port when no one else could hold the piles firm in the sand and mud. He amassed an entire neighborhood of businesses and homes.

    This project on Lanson is about barriers and extraordinary people, the ability to overcome and how these people are able to see beyond. He also wants to make them visible so that they serve as example by example to people who are in their situation and live adversity with despair. We all look for references that help us to build our own path and William Lanson is undoubtedly and will be a reference for all.

    “The Silent Mirror” by David de la Mano in Galicia, Spain

    Prolific muralist and painter David De La Mano recently finished his latest mural for Vigo, Cidade De Cor, an art festival in public spaces held in the city of Vigo, Galicia, Spain since 2015. The mural is entitled “The Silent Mirror” which depicts his signature repeating silhouettes of human and animal figures.
