Adelaide firms design $84m public high school

Local Adelaide practices Thomson Rossi and Brown Falconer have designed a new $84.4 million high school for the city’s north-east.

Morialta Secondary College will be built on the site of the soon-to-be vacated Norwood Morialta High School Middle Campus, whose aging buildings will be demolished.

It will be ready for a year 7 intake in 2023, with a wider intake scheduled from 2024. Once complete it will cater to 1,200 students from year 7 to 12.

School buildings will include a performing arts centre, gymnasium, library, gallery, and café, alongside contemporary indoor and outdoor learning spaces and sports ovals and courts.

Local MP Vincent Tarzia said new public high school would help meet growing demand in the area.

“This is an exciting milestone for Morialta Secondary College and I’m truly impressed with the architectural concept and the many learning opportunities it will provide to students,” he said.

“This will be an outstanding facility that will support the needs of existing students as well as our growing community.”
