Brisbane’s Portside Wharf to undergo $20m makeover

Brisbane’s waterfront village Portside Wharf will undergo a $20 million makeover to “refresh and reactivate” the area.

Established 16 years, Portside Wharf is a mixed-use precinct with a variety of live entertainment, local craft vendors, and hospitality venues. Designed by Cavill Architects with developer Urbis, the redevelopment will build on the precinct’s existing character, enhancing views, improving river access, and expanding retail, dining and entertainment amenity.

“The reimagined riverside locale will enhance views and access to the river through an extended plaza and main street, and create additional shading and landscaping to support year-round outdoor dining with a refreshed and activated riverfront,” a spokesperson for Cavill said.

Improvements to Brisbane’s Portside Wharf will include enhanced views and access to the river through an extended entry plaza and main street.

The upgrades will include new tenancies for retail and dining, and new entertainment sub-precincts will be established to improve visitor experience. There will be new areas dedicated to lifestyle and wellness, and a diverse mix of tenancies will evolve the offerings of the existing destination.

Cavill director Andrew D’Occhio said the project would future-proof the existing precinct and herald a new era by drawing on the precinct’s rich legacy.

“We will be opening-up Portside Wharf visually and physically from its northern entrance, extending through the heart of the precinct a vibrant main street to connect this area of Hamilton more directly to the water,” D’Occhio said.

Work will commence late this year and are expected to be completed by December 2023.
