Promising new talent recognized at 2022 Vivid Awards

The 2022 Vivid Design Awards were held at Decoration and Design on 14 July, celebrating the achievements of emerging and early-career designers of furniture, lighting and objects.

As Australia’s longest-running competition for emerging designers, the Vivid Awards have helped to bolster the careers of many designers, including Nicole Monks, Edward Linacre, Adam Markowitz and Dale Hardiman.

Entrants were recognised across six categories for their originality, functionality and brave approach to materials. This year’s finalists included a handwoven amphorae made from plush velvet that playfully referenced Ancient Greek pottery; handcrafted side tables made out of discard from a stone supplier; and a bent wood chair that irreverently exaggerated the familiar typography.
