Tallest Queen's Wharf tower unveiled

The consortium behind the Queen’s Wharf casino development in Brisbane has revealed renders of the precinct’s tallest tower, designed by Cottee Parker Architects, lead designer for the wider precinct.

Known as Queen’s Wharf Tower, the 71-storey tower will accommodate 800 apartments and reach a height of more than 250 metres. It will be the fifth tower built for the controversial casino resort, which incorporates four hotels, luxury retail tenancies and around 2,000 apartments.

The tower will sit on the corner of Margaret and William streets.

Nine heritage-listed buildings on the site will be adapted for use as new shopping outlets, restaurants and bars as well as spaces for events, entertainment and performance.

The resort will also include a “sky deck,” a public terrace located 100 metres above William Street.

Destination Brisbane Consortium project director Simon Crooks said the resort would begin opening in the first half of 2023.

“With the main integrated resort reaching level 20 in parts, construction has spilled into the public space areas and heritage buildings, many of which will become the locals’ favourite new dining spots,” he said.

The resort has been criticized by architecture and heritage groups as an inappropriate development for a key heritage precinct.
