Design team wanted for Monash University campus centre

Monash University is seeking to appoint a multi-disciplinary team to design a new integrated campus centre at its Clayton campus in Melbourne’s south-east.

The proposed campus centre will create a new student hub that respects and understands its place on Bunurong Country and expresses the identity of the university.

The centre will be distinctive, contextually responsive, demonstrate best international practice, make a major positive impact for the Monash community and provide staff, students and visitors with a unique Monash experience.

It will also enrich and celebrate excellence in teaching, learning and research, reflect cultural and spatial diversity and inclusion, and emphasises the student experience.

The campus centre will both contribute to and be integrated with the landscape, and entice people to linger and return.

Monash is seeking a net-zero carbon design solution that would also embody the university’s Impact 2030 strategy goals to be excellent, international, enterprising and inclusive.

The university is seeking a principal design team to develop a Feasibility Design Study that will inform a business case for the proposed campus centre.

If endorsed, the design team selected through the initial engagement will be retained to deliver the project.

Expressions of Interest are open until 27 November. Shortlisted teams will be invited to respond to a two-stage Request for Proposal or detailed tender.
