Tanner is the president of the Institute’s Tasmanian chapter, and he is also a member of the Institute’s board of directors.

Tanner has practised as an architect for his eponymous firm, Tanner Architects, for the last 22 years. The studio is renowned for its strong design integrity, its dedication to sustainability, and its advocacy for quality design outcomes.
