Jury announced for 2023 Dulux Colour Awards

Dulux has announced the judging panel for its 2023 Dulux Colour Awards, comprising five eminent architects and designers from Australia and New Zealand.

The judges include Andrew Piva, director of B. E. Architecture; Brahman Perera, designer and director of his eponymous practice; Lisa Lee, designer at Snøhetta; Sarah Carney, director of CTRL Space; and Byron George, director of Russell and George.

Entries will be assessed across six categories: commercial interior (workplace and retail); commercial interior (public and hospitality); commercial and multi (residential exterior); residential interior; single residential exterior; and the student prize, awarded to Australian and New Zealand entrants.

Juror Brahman Perera said he is eager to contribute his perspective on the impact of colour on our experience of the built environment.

“The choice of colour in architecture has an overwhelming effect on the way a building is perceived by those that view it, walk by it and occupy it each and every day,” he said. “As a first-time judge, I can’t wait to see and review the colourful and inventive submissions of some of Australia and New Zealand’s best architects and designers, and explore our own perceptions of the effect colour can have within a space.”

From the category winners, two will also be selected as the recipients of the Australian and New Zealand Grand Prix awards, respectively. The student category is exempt from Grand Prix consideration.

Winners will have their projects showcased on an international scale, amplified on showcased on Dulux digital publishing platforms, along with “wide acclaim and industry recognition”, Dulux said. Winners of the Student Awards (years 1–6) will receive a separate monetary prize.

The 2023 Dulux Colour Awards are now open for entries, and will be accepting submissions until 1 March.

Winners will be announced at a private event on 11 May. Click here to enter.
