Australia Architecture Conference 2024: Full program announced

The Australian Institute of Architects has announced the full program for the 2024 Australian Architecture Conference, to be held in Melbourne from 8 to 11 May.

The four-day event includes a two-day symposium on the wellbeing of architects in education and professional practice (separate registration required), followed by two days of the conference.

The first day of the conference will see six keynote addresses from Australian and international speakers: Barbara Bestor (Bestor Architecture, USA), Paul Monaghan (Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM), UK), Nigel Bertram (NMBW, Australia), Dana Cuff (University of California, USA), Alberto Veiga (Barozzi Veiga, Spain), and Yasmeen Lari (Heritage Foundation Pakistan and Chair of INTBAU, Pakistan) in conversation with Esther Charlesworth (Architects without Frontiers, Australia).

Day two of the conference will see three different seminar series on the themes of landscape and architecture (with David Kunitz and Ka Wai Leung, Louise Wright and Mauro Baracco and Michael Lineburg and Lynn Wang); neighbours (with Kevin Daly (USA), Ganga Rathnayake and Milinda Pathiraja (Sri Lanka), and Cyrus Patell and Eliza Higgins (India); and here and there (with Kathy Waghorn (New Zealand), Ben Berwick and Guillermo Fernández-Abascal (Australia)).

The second day will also include a number of panel discussions on the topics of climate action, Indigenising the built environment, communication, heritage, artificial intelligence and legislation. The Institute is calling for expressions of interest for potential panellists to join the conference.
